impact of sleep debt on cognitive functioning

In my earlier post, we discussed the notion of “Sleep Recovery”.

This post delves deeper into the impact of poor recovery on “Cognitive Functioning”.

One of the most iconic studies correlating sleep deprivation & cognitive functioning was done in 1995 by Lorenzo et al., where they studied reactions times to external stimuli on well-rested and sleep deprived individuals.

The findings were astounding – Sleep deprivation has the same impact as drunkenness from alcohol consumption!

Inadequate sleep leads to “Sleep Debt”, which in turn, impacts your mood, cognition, energy levels the next day!

Gaining insight into your unique Sleep Signature empowers you to optimize your sleep routines, thereby ensuring adequate recovery each and every night!
